DUNAWAY
EXPECTS EASIER TIME IN REMATCH WITH RODRIQUEZBy Andy Rivera It's been over a year since Hollie Dunaway defeated Wendy Rodriquez with a near shutout win. This Friday on the big Holly Holm vs Mary Jo Sanders pay-per-view card in Albuquerque, NM Dunaway will once again face Rodriquez, but Dunaway doesn't feel Rodriquez will do anything different to get revenge, in fact Dunaway is hoping she will stop Rodriquez, so much that Dunaway's manager Ron Brand is giving Dunaway a chance to win an extra thousand dollars if she halts Rodriquez. "Oh, yeah do I want to stop her, I'd love to get and extra grand." stated Dunaway. " I'm prepared for anything she brings to the table but I really don't think she has a chance to do anything, I expect to win easier this time around. I'm not being cocky at all, just confident." Dunaway who sports a 21-6 record has been boxing for five years professional, but has faced some of the best in the world including Regina Halmich, which Dunaway thought was a good experience for her. "I fought Regina after only boxing pro for two years, I won the first two rounds but after that her experience kicked in and she made the adjustments to win." Says Dunaway, who has also gone back to Germany to spar with Halmich in order to get Halmich ready her upcoming bouts. If Dunaway gets past Rodriquez, she has plans to keep fighting the best out there. "If you look at my record I don't fight stiffs, I fight the top women out there and I expect to keep doing that in the future. If you look at my pro debut I fought a girl 3-0, I lost but I took the challenge." If there is more challenges out there for Dunaway she says it doesn't matter in what weight division. "I plan to go up or down to fight the best out there. I plan on winning more titles in more divisions, I just have fun and love a challenge. My weight fluctuates from 100 and I can go up to 112 if I have to, I'm not one of these women who stays in one division, I feel if I have a chance to better myself and career Ill go up in weight." Right now its 105 in fight Rodriquez, after that who knows what lies ahead for Dunaway, but with her positive attitude I don't think it will matter what division she fights in. There will be two belts on the line when Dunaway and Rodriquez do battle Friday it what is the first all women's pay-per-view card held in the US. There is four title fights featuring all women. Dunaway feels honored to fight on such a card. "I think its great for women to finally get the spotlight and with people like promoter Lenny Fresquez doing this for women's boxing, means its a step in the right direction for us to gain exposure." The fight will be on Pay-Per-View on Secondsout.com in Europe and check your local cable companies for time and channel in the US. First bell is at 7:00 PM MST |
